*$137,000 net. The funds raised at our annual spring Gala are fully dedicated to the daily operating expenses of Clear Water Academy.
With 250 guests, over 175 Silent and Live auction items, great food and entertainment, the energy at the night of the Gala was electric! It was a great crowd and a fantastic night in celebration and support of Clear Water Academy!
While some may have wondered about our choice to hold the event at The Coast Plaza Hotel & Conference Centre, we are happy to report that it was a terrific venue in every way. We had over 13,000 square feet of event space to work with; easy access for loading and unloading; free parking and lots of it; and quick to get to and easy to find. Wonderful food, excellent service, and perhaps the best part of all, the price was right! We loved the venue so much that we are now booked for next year - so please everyone, mark your calendars for Gala No. 17, Saturday, May 3rd, 2014.
It Takes a Village to Raise Our Kids and It Takes a Village to Put on a Gala Like Ours
The success of our Gala is a result of an incredible community effort. Just consider for one moment the work and generosity required to make the following things happen: With over 175 Live and Silent auction items; procured and/or donated; tracked; tagged; labeled; moved to the venue; displayed; bid on and paid for and funds in the bank. Unique, thoughtful and beautiful classroom donations from all of our classes. The efforts to create an incredible Kids Art Project (painted pottery in a Go Fish! theme) from all of our JK - Grade 9 students. The creativity, ideas and work to find and display appealing Go Fish! style items for sale at the event. Managing ticket sales and seating arrangements. Procuring sponsorships. Developing gorgeous theme-related marketing and communications. The spectacular decor of the ballroom. And so much more! WOW! Thank you to everyone who helped with the Gala. From our parent volunteers, student workers, faculty and staff, special guests speakers and emcees to our clean up crew. You know who you are and you have made a very big difference! Thank you to everyone who donated an item for the Live and Silent auction, hosted a Sign-Up experience, purchased an item, made a financial contribution, purchased tickets to attend, and/or prayed for the event's success. By the grace of God, guided by His loving hands, all our collective efforts resulted in a wonderful success for our school. We reached both of our goals! We raised $137,000 for our school; funds greatly needed and put to good use, and, we built up our community - both at the event and in preparation for it. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Special mention and thanks go to our Gala Chair, Natasha Sorobey, for whose dedication and leadership there are no sufficient words, and to the Gala Committee members: Heidi-Lynne Balasch, Stephanie Bieschke, Cheray Jerome, Suzy Moutinho, Jennifer Pham, Silvia Pinto-Plazas, Launie Rakochey, Patrizia Ruggieri, and Michelle Sundy. Their dedication of time was substantial and their love for our school is very special, and we are indebted to them.
Being on the Gala Committee can be lots of hard work, but it also lots of fun and very rewarding. We welcome all members of community to join our team. We need help in every area from chairing a team to just lending a helping hand. Please email Margaret Matthews to join or ask questions. We'd love to welcome you to the Gala team! Finally, congratulations to The Pogue family - Winners of the 2013 Heavenly Wine Collection Draw! Thanks to everyone for your purchase of tickets and donations of wine. The Pogues say thank you too! On behalf of Natasha Sorobey, the entire Gala Committee and all the students and teachers who are supported by your generosity, thank you! Ultimately, you have helped Clear Water Academy continue to form Fisher's of Men!
Sincerely in Christ,
Director, Admissions and Development
