Clear Water Academy’s primary goal is to foster
a life-long love of learning. The Pre-Kindergarten and
Kindergarten programs feature a developmentally appropriate
curriculum in a nurturing environment. Also important
to this young group of learners is the small class size
where experienced and supportive teachers use creative
toys and games to help cultivate imagination and to
teach basic skills, respect and co-operation.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
3 (PRE K 3)
The Pre-Kindergarten 3
child is taught to maintain sustained attention, to
develop listening skills, ask questions, and recall
information.
Pre-reading skills are introduced through telling and
sequencing stories, identifying alphabet letters, rhyming
words, and distinguishing print from pictures. Pre-K
3 students are guided to learning book skills such as
holding a book properly and turning pages correctly.
Pre-K 3 students learn to recognize their first and
last names in print and recite rhymes. They develop
fine motor skills through coloring and forming letters.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN 4 (PRE
K 4)
The Pre-K 4 program provides an extension of maintaining
a longer sustained attention span, developing better
listening skills, asking “what if” questions,
making relevant contributions to class discussions and
gathering information from a variety of resources.
At the Pre-K 4 level, students learn to recognize alphabet
letters, some letter sounds, and construct words that
rhyme. They are taught the beginning sounds of words,
and that words are made up of letter sounds.
In terms of book skills, they are taught to tell stories
from picture books, and to follow print from left to
right and top to bottom. Their attention is directed
to character, setting, problem and solutions in stories.
