Emma Forrester
I graduated high school in 2018 and completed an Honours Bachelor of Science in Zoology at the University of Calgary, followed by my Doctor of Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine in Calgary. I am currently a physician at Vancouver General Hospital, where I am completing my General Surgery residency. Mentorship and community involvement have been central throughout my training. During medical school and residency, I have mentored junior learner, contributed to student-led surgical education

initiatives, and helped develop resources supporting students transitioning into surgical training. I have also participated in research focused on improving equity and access to healthcare, particularly in rural communities through telemedicine and surgical outreach.
Outside medicine, I value community through the arts and athletics. I have taught piano for several years, helping younger students build confidence and creativity.
I have also been involved in figure skating coaching and volunteering with Special Olympics programs, shaping my approach to teamwork, leadership, and connection inside and outside practice. I have remained involved with my school community through mentorship and alumni initiatives. I participate in transition nights for students moving from Grade 9 to 10, speaking with students and parents about academics, extracurricular involvement, and future pathways.

I previously served as Chair of the Alumni Committee, strengthening connections between alumni, students, and staff and continuing to give back to a community that played an important role in my development.
