Jr. Kindergarten and Kindergarten offer a dynamic hands-on learning environment for children aged 4 to 5. Our accredited programs foster growth in intellectual, spiritual, human, and apostolic formation. We actively partner with parents, recognizing them as the primary educators of their children, to unlock the full potential of each child.

Research shows that play supports brain development, physical and mental health, language, literacy, and social development. Our teachers recognize the role of play as an essential tool, understanding that young students use play to make sense of their experiences and express their ideas.

We focus on building strong relationships with our students and their families. We cultivate a nurturing, supportive, and exploratory learning environment for our students.

Junior Kindergarten Program

At Clear Water Academy, we view children as capable and creative learners. Our early education faculty actively promotes exploration within a Montessori-inspired environment. Our curriculum incorporates the best practices from Reggio Emilia, traditional educational philosophies, and inquiry based learning, fostering an understanding of 'why' through intentional play, daily physical activities, problem-solving, and shared experiences with peers. Home reading is introduced as early as Junior Kindergarten, tailored to each student's readiness.

Our teachers create opportunities for students to develop deeper understanding through communication and hands-on experiences. We help our students feel confident in expanding their thinking through questioning, debate, and shared reasoning by explaining their views, inquiring, reflecting, and comparing. Thinking together in these ways enables students to work successfully and collaboratively ensuring a lifelong love of learning.

The Junior Kindergarten program is offered to children who turn 4 years old by December 31st of the school year in which they will be entering Junior Kindergarten.

Full Time Kindergarten Program

Children are nurtured and taught in small class sizes within thoughtfully designed, spacious classrooms. Specialist teachers introduce students to a well-rounded curriculum.

In our play-based and academic goal-oriented program, students develop a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy, interpersonal skills, creative thinking, problem-solving, and fine and gross motor skills. As a result, our Kindergarten students are reading and writing by the time they finish.

The Kindergarten program is available for children who turn 5 years old by December 31st of the school year in which they will be entering Kindergarten.

Fridays from 8:30 am - 2:00 pm

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

In Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten, students are encouraged to embark on a healthy beginning guided by our dedicated Physical Education Specialist and homeroom teachers following the Spark program (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids). At the end of the school year, our elementary students participate in Games Day, a fun and exciting athletics-based event incorporating indoor and outdoor sports and games.

PUBLIC SPEAKING DEVELOPMENT

CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD PROGRAM

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based program for learning scripture and liturgy. Our younger students visit the Atrium at St. Thomas More Hall once per week to enjoy this program. They explore the parables that Jesus told his disciples, listen to the stories surrounding the birth of Christ, and learn the nomenclature of the articles of the Mass. Students will listen to scripture and be allowed time and space to consider the meaning of the Word of God. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd was founded in Rome in 1954 and has spread to over 36 countries around the world.

Out of School Program

We focus on creating a safe and nurturing environment in our out-of-school care programs for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten students.

Out-of-school program activities prepare your child for their day through arts and crafts, painting, games, and dramatic play. After-school sessions include time for a snack, homework, outdoor recreation, games, crafts, or reading. Our Child Care Certified staff design all sessions to continue integral learning and fun in a familiar environment.

Busing Program

We offer students a pick-up and drop-off busing service for the 2024/2025 school year. The Clear Water Academy school bus currently makes three stops within Calgary's Northwest quadrant. We believe that having our own dedicated busing service with an experienced and qualified bus driver is the safest and most reliable option for our students.

The annual busing fee is $2,750 per student for the 2024/2025 school year. Fees are paid in monthly installments (September 1, 2024 - June 1, 2025). For more information please contact us at [email protected]
