Our Council provides improved process and governance for parent volunteering and involvement at Clear Water Academy. The Council impacts school life by coordinating and overseeing many school events and the building up of our wonderful community. The PAC supports the mission and beliefs of Clear Water Academy and the model of Integral Formation by providing input to CWA's Administration on education, the needs of our school, and concerns of the community.

Jodi Drake, Chair

Jodi is going into her 3rd year on the Parent Advisory Council, and is in the role of chair for the 2021-2022 year. Jodi has worked in the human resources profession for over 30 years, and brings perspective from corporate Calgary and organizational effectiveness to the PAC. Jodi and her husband Brian have two kids and two dogs. Together they enjoy spending their time in the mountains and cheering on hockey. Their boys have been part of Clear Water community for 12 years, one graduated and one in grade 12. Jodi’s favourite part of the school is the personal attention and formation each child receives to achieve their potential in all four pillars of the school’s educational model. Semper Altius!

Mario Frison, Vice Chair

This is Mario’s first year on the Parent Advisory Council and he is excited about contributing to the great work Clear Water Academy does in helping to form our children. Mario works as a vice president at a chartered bank and he looks forward to bringing his leadership and business skills to PAC. He and his wife Alexandra have two children at Clear Water (Adrian and Christian) in secondary. They enjoy hiking, skiing, and travelling as a family and Mom and Dad are boisterous attendees at the boys’ volleyball and basketball games. The family is thrilled to be part of the Clear Water community and feel they have found a welcoming home for the boys at the school.

Sanja Serwa, Secretary

This is Sanja's first year on PAC and fifth year at CWA. She has three daughters who are in Grade 3, 1, and JK respectively and has been involved in the school as a Parent Rep since her oldest was in JK. Sanja owns two companies and is also a realtor. She has three animals (to match the three kids, naturally) so, yes, it's a bit of a zoo. She has lived in Canada most of her life having immigrated from Former Yugoslavia at the age of 5. When she's not working she enjoys spending time with her girls, baking, and travelling. Her favourite part about Clear Water Academy is the community, and she hopes to continue to grow the CWA community as part of PAC.

Patrizia Ruggieri, Event Coordinator

Patrizia is the proud mother of 3 children who have all attended Clear Water Academy since September of 2005. Patrizia and her husband are so grateful for the intellectual, spiritual, human, and apostolic formation that Clear Water Academy has provided their children. Patrizia's favourite thing to do is watch her children do what they love best: play hockey, dance, figure skate, and ski. The Ruggieri family loves to travel, play board games, and read together.

Gerardo Odorizzi, Treasurer

Gerardo and his wife, Barbara (CWA business manager), have one son who started at the school in kindergarten and is now in grade 9, three adult children, and a 9-year-old granddaughter. Gerardo is a member and treasurer of the Knights of Columbus at St. Peter's parish, and has been a scout leader for 12 years. Gerardo and his family love travelling overseas and spending time at their cottage in BC. Having CWA recommended to their family was, and continues to be, a blessing.

Ramel Oriel, Volunteer Coordinator

Ramel and his wife, Christine, have four children at CWA in grades 4 (Roman), 6 (Rayna), and 9 (Carter & Lauryn). Clear Water Academy has been a blessing for their family. They are grateful for their children's formation at the school and for the friends they have been able to connect with since Carter & Lauryn started at the Junior Kindergarten level. Ramel and Christine were both raised in Winnipeg, but have called Calgary home for 20 years. When Ramel is not working at his wife’s dental clinic, he enjoys talking sports with anyone who will listen.

Darren Forrester, Head of School/Director of Education & Formation – Secondary

Mr. Forrester has been with Clear Water Academy since 2009. He holds three degrees: a Bachelor of Arts from McGill, a Graduate Teaching diploma from McGill, and a Master’s of Education from the University of Calgary (and a partial completion of a PhD). Mr. Forrester has led and taught (in English and French) in other private schools in Calgary. Darren says, “I love Clear Water Academy, because it has been the second home to our family as our children have grown up. It has provided a safe, caring place for all the children in the school to grow up at their pace without the pressure to do so more quickly than necessary. Clear Water Academy truly loves and teaches the whole child.”

Maria Isabel Botero, Lower School Representative

Maria is an early childhood educator and is currently the director of a day home corporation. She loves dancing and listening to music. Maria and her husband, Jorge, have two children at Clear Water Academy. Sara is now in grade 3, and Samantha is in Junior kindergarten this year. Maria’s favourite part of CWA is the faith formation and personalized education.

Anna Atencio, Lower School Representative

Anna is a Petroleum Engineer with an entrepreneurial spirit. After working 15 years as an engineer, she started to pursue her true passion, which encourages kids to grow to their full potential in an enrichment environment. Following this passion, she opened Idea Lab Kids in Calgary. Anna and her husband, Joaquin, have two children and one dog. The family enjoys camping in the summer and skiing in the winter. They have been part of Clear Water Academy since 2013 when their daughter started Junior Kindergarten. Today, Alana is in Grade 7 and Daniel is in Grade 4. Anna and Joaquin feel blessed to be part of the Clear Water Academy family and they wish to see their children graduate from the school. They love the integral formation that their kids receive and the loving and caring teachers and faculty.

Teresa Reilly, Upper School Representative

Teresa, and her husband, Steven, have two boys at Clear Water Academy in Grade 10 and Grade 12. They have been a part of the CWA community for 11 years. Teresa is pleased to see her children learn strong academics and, more importantly, to grow in the Catholic faith. Teresa is a lawyer with Legal Aid Alberta and her favourite activities are travelling, cheering on the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and taking walks with her three-year-old Labradoodle, Daisy.

Dan Oryschak, CWA Upper Grades Teacher Representative

Dan joined Clear Water Academy in 2014. He has a Bachelor of Science (Chemistry); a Master of Science (Chemistry); and a Bachelor of Education. Dan's passion in life is chemistry. He looks forward to sharing this enthusiasm with future generations and hopes to give them a new perspective on the world around them. Dan is consistently ranked the #1 Chem teacher at CWA. He is active in the student body, the school community, and in his church. Dan enjoys playing board games and reading in his spare time. Dan shares, "My years at Clear Water Academy have been rich in experience both inside and outside the classroom!"

Carolyn Skrilik, CWA Lower Grades Teacher Representative

Carolyn joined Clear Water Academy in 1999. She holds a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, majoring in Elementary Education and minoring as a Reading Specialist. Carolyn loves working at the school and says, "This school is truly a special place, as I have had a unique opportunity of teaching many of the children of long-time families. I have had the pleasure and joy of seeing them develop into such fine human beings. Our school's families and faculty are a community of Christ and that allows us to live our faith authentically."
