Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten

Our educational model recognizes that each child is a gift from God deserving to be valued and treated with dignity.  We believe that children need to feel safe and cared for in order to learn.  To that end, we focus on the quality of our relationships with our students and their families, recognizing their uniqueness. In our nurturing and supportive environment, students feel secure enough to explore and take risks in their learning, which leads them to gain confidence in their God-given talents.

Our learning environment has been thoughtfully created, drawing on the latest educational research, brain-development research, and early-years best practices. It is tailored to provide personalized attention for each student, recognizing their unique needs and stage of development. Classrooms and materials are organized to foster active learning: inquiry, communication and collaboration. Opportunities are created for students to develop deeper understanding through hands-on and shared experience.  Our teachers observe and guide our students carefully in the classroom, at recess and during daily physical activity.

Our play-based programming allows our students to build up their knowledge and skills: collaborating with others; creative thinking; reading and numeracy; problem-solving; fine and gross motor skills.  We focus on developing learners who construct meanings rather than merely reciting the “right” answer. We offer:

  • Montessori-inspired Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program, affords the children an opportunity to learn about the Catholic faith, visit with Jesus, and practice reverence, reflection and prayer;

  • Our School Library provides them with books and resources to enjoy;

  • Our Physical Education program in the Zoom Room encourages the development of locomotor skills through movement;

  • Our Orff Music program introduces the students to the fundamentals of music through singing, dancing and playing instruments;

  • Our Spanish as a Second Language program expands their capacity for language processing.

 Clear Water Academy provides each child with an Extraordinary Beginning and prepares them for a lifetime of learning!
