Junior High

EXPANDING CHARACTER THROUGH RESPONSIBILITY

We award junior high students more autonomy academically and spiritually to promote greater responsibility. Specialized secondary teachers in core curriculum subjects and special interest courses invest in your child's God-given talents to grow into their potential.

Integral Formation in Junior High

Human Formation
Athletics and performing arts challenge students to cultivate virtues like teamwork, sportsmanship, and courtesy. Junior high students can appreciate challenging non-academic pursuits by participating in our incredible Outdoor Education program, Interscholastic Sports (ISAA), and the annual Spring musical.

Intellectual Formation
A rigorous academic curriculum and small class sizes mean that students and teachers work together to achieve excellence in mathematics, science, language arts, religion, and social studies. New options like art, media studies and debate, in addition to French and physical education, excite students' love for learning.

Spiritual Formation

The School Chaplain and Dean of Students create opportunities for each student to enjoy their personal friendship with Christ and discover the fundamentals of Catholic teaching. Along with spiritual guidance, we participate in daily prayer and reverence, monthly mass, and off-site retreats to grow in faith.

Apostolic Formation

Students gain hands-on experience caring for others through service projects,  concrete works of charity, and mentoring younger classes.

Gender-Style Education

"There are few differences in what girls and boys can learn. But there are big differences in the best ways to teach them."

– Leonard Sax. M.D., Ph.D., Why Gender Matters

At Clear Water Academy, our curriculum makes no distinction between genders but recognizes learning and social differences to inform our teaching strategies. Our uniquely trained educators empower your child to take risks in their thoughts and ideas by tapping into special interests and applying developmentally appropriate methods for girls and boys from Grade 4 through Grade 9.

Girls and boys achieve the same high academic standards and Christian leadership development through consistent quality instruction and varied engagement approaches. Every person was created uniquely by God with distinct gifts and talents. We promote single-gendered classrooms to facilitate these individual educational needs and growth better. Students still benefit from co-ed activities to connect socially at lunch, recess and some option classes.

Performing Arts

The annual spring play, talents shows, and musical performances are pivotal to allowing students to express their creativity on-stage and behind-the-scenes.

Clear Water Academy students also engage in a rigorous debate program to build confidence in public speaking and research skills.

Athletics

Crusaders Athletic teams compete in the Calgary Independent Schools Athletics Association (ISAA) Sports league. Our teams regularly qualify for the provincial level in basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross country, golf, badminton and soccer.

The Athletic Director and coaching staff understand the importance that Athletics offer to Integral Formation and cultivating leaders. Our teams achieve success by modelling Christian values such as fortitude, charity, and obedience.

Busing Program

We are pleased to offer our families a pick-up and drop-off student busing service for the 2023/2024 school year. The Clear Water Academy school bus currently makes three stops within Calgary's Northwest quadrant. We believe that having our own exclusive busing service with an experienced and qualified bus driver is the safest, most reliable, and most formative option for our students.

The total fee for pick-ups and drop-offs is $2,500 per student for the 2023/2024 school year. The fees will be paid in monthly installments (September 1, 2023 - June 1, 2024). For more information please contact us at [email protected]
